Springfield Spring & Stamping recently attended the 42nd National Air Filtration Association Annual Convention in Nashville, TN. Company President, Norman L. Rodriques delivered a presentation to convention attendees on Frames and Latches – Their Importance to the System’s Integrity and Filter Performance.

As an industry expert, Norm spoke about the danger of bypass, or air that seeps around a filter, because as we now know, sneezes can kill. He brought up perils of airborne viruses and diseases as first learned in Connecticut through the 1976 legionnaires’ disease outbreak at an American Legion convention, and more recently, through the spread of Covid-19. Consequently, the building industry started paying attention to air quality. Air particles were quantified through MERV Ratings and standards were set to reduce harm. Through all of these changes, the air filter became a medical device. Our clips are ancillary to these devises, as our hardware must hold filters tight to frames to prevent bypass. He continued,

Those of us in the room hold a different level of industry responsibility; air filters keep people safe. We are the bouncers holding the red velvet rope.

Over 100 companies attended including AAF Flanders, Air Filter Sales, Camfil, Filter Technology Company, and Ver-Mac Industries.

Norm concluded his presentation saying, “Let’s make sure nobody gets past our velvet rope.” To learn more about the conference and others who spoke at the event, click here.
